About this place
Being able to settle in with a glass while choosing from a thoughtful line-up of noodle dishes is one of the distinct charms of BAR HICOTTO. The menu draws attention with characterful options such as warm kamatama garlic somen and teppan-grilled cha soba inspired by Shimonoseki's regional specialty, kawara soba. Chilled hand-stretched Kikugawa somen is also on hand, making for a satisfying conclusion to an evening of drinking.
The noodle selections extend well beyond somen and soba, featuring substantial pasta plates including duck carbonara and garland chrysanthemum genovese topped with prosciutto. The kitchen also turns out complete meals well-suited for a proper dinner rather than just bar snacking, from Singapore chicken rice to oven-baked cheese-topped beef tendon simmered in tomato.
The bar is well stocked, offering crisp mojitos mixed with restrained sweetness alongside Japanese whiskies such as Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Yoichi, an array of bourbons, and diverse cocktails. Open from 20:00 until 5:00 the following morning, it caters just as naturally to solo guests spending quiet time at the counter as it does to anyone seeking a proper late-night meal and a drink.
